Young Guru, Grammy award winning engineer and go-to sound maven for Jay-Z, desired to share his knowledge and skill with young music students cultivating their talents into their career; but it wasn’t enough. “The main purpose of coming here was to set up a scholarship. It goes beyond just ‘Hey I’m Young Guru and I have some Grammies,’ the purpose is for me to give back as much information as possible. I don’t want it be a one time thing, to come in and give out a scholarship and leave, then there’s press about it. I want it to be a real thing that goes on every year.”

The Young Guru Foundation seeks to shape a brighter future for communities by providing financial support through the Young Guru Scholarship Fund to students pursuing careers in Communications, Audio Engineering, Music Education and Music Business. In addition to providing financial assistance for post-secondary education, The Young Guru Foundation assists in mentoring and advising students from junior high school through graduate school, by coordinating internship and work/study opportunities.By developing innovative strategic plans, creating high-impact partnerships, introducing new technologies and managing programs, The Young Guru Foundation increases awareness of rewarding careers in communications.

Young Guru sees this foundation as an opportunity that derived from his passion for teaching what he knows best, the aesthetic of sound. Looking deeper into the need for substantial involvement, The Young Guru Foundation will facilitate guidance and support focusing on Young Guru’s passion for the cause to further young hopeful leaders of the art.
